Yup, so after the exciting events of last Friday, I spent all day Saturday trying not to think about how I was going to have to go to Andy’s party.
Well the party itself was alright, but at the same time, pretty awful. I did some things and said some things, not all of which I am proud of, but some of which I am. I won’t go into details because I will just have a stock answer, and Chris, you know most of this already.

On Sunday morning I woke up, had two cups of tea, watched Josh O. and James M. play some crappy PS2 game, went and had breakfast, got stuff together and got picked up by my mum, who took me to our boat in Suffolk Yacht Harbour, where we had to move it to a mooring near Pin Mill, ’cause the waiting list for SYH is a few years long and the day rate is about £30 per day. It turned out that the mooring owners were already on the mooring, planning to help us tie on and then take us back to the marina in their boat, without us using our inflatable dinghy. This seems nice, but in fact it ruined the best laid plans o’ mice an’ men and the bloke on the boat was a huge douche who thought I was an imbecile. We finally got back home after pork pies and talking to people for a few hours.

Monday was… Schooly. Nothing out of the ordinary, still reading Of Mice and Men in English, still studying the frickin’ Bible in RS, etcetera.
I stayed up very late on Monday evening and completed Chrono Cross. This was Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
Do you get the idea?
Yellow->Red->Green->Blue->Black->White->ChronoCross = Ultimate Pwnage of Lavos mutation final boss thing. Freaking EPIC. And apparently now Kid is looking for me. I like that ending.

Today, rugby was pretty fun, even though I can’t kick, Biology was coursework-filled, English was alright and had notes, and Maths had tangents, for the most part.
In the evening, at the filmy type project thing that Kezia, Nico and I go to we were filming several scenes, and I needed a shirt and had to borrow a girl’s blouse. That was… interesting. They button up the wrong way.

Many things to be written ’bouted.
First, it was international Talk Like A Pirate Day today. Meaning that I was the only person who actually cared and took the effort to actually talk like a pirate some of the time and try and make life interesting. I just seemed to annoy several people.
Oh well…

I have been bugging my mum about her ability to probably squeeze a free XBox360 out of Microsoft, but she kept falling back on that I’d said that I only really wanted one game: Castle Crashers. Which is true, since all the other games I want could be played on a PC if I had a decent one. But if I take a Max route that could cost well over 4x that of an XBox 360. Now I *officially* took back the one game comment and reissued a typed statement (that took half an hour to lay out and colour co-ordinate) saying that in fact there were FIVE games that I really wanted (Castle Crashers, Orange Box, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Soulcalibur IV) and that I would be thrilled to have them from such a wonderful mother. Then she said she’d talk to someone about it. THEN she asked how games would cost, then said they were too expensive and that I would have to choose an XBox 360 or the Wii.
I am not happy with my mother.
The arguments amassed as far are that money saved by getting a free console could be spent on games, or that if I actually got pocket money I could buy games myself. Maybe I should actually PLAY a 360 first…

I have upgraded to iTunes 8.0, which has lots of shiny features that I can’t use due to my lack of iTunes Store account. Pisspots. Illegal music is much more exciting, anyway.

I got the Half-Life 2 demo, it actually runs at lowest settings, which is good, and I got to slice some zombies up with circular saw blades. Nice.

I also actually put some art on my deviantART account. I won’t link to it, ’cause all the stuff is on Bebo already anyway. I must finish that picture for Chris…

School is fun, Of Mice and Men is swell, people are being nice for the most part, and I have to go to a party tomorrow. Sweet.
I may return with peroxide blond hair. Who knows? Andy has said no, but Eliza has other plans. She always does when Andy says no. I wish Eliza would have another party…

In this case, not of the Gordon kind.
Adobe Flash CS3 Professional is more my scene. Oh, who am I kidding, Flash Gordon is amazing too. But I own both of them on DVDs, anyway.
Yeah, so now I have the most powerful piece of software in the universe, I need to work out what to do with it. For starters, I have to overcome the barrier that Miss Williams has set down that in actual fact I CAN draw, and reasonably well to boot.Then Max wants me to go back to my long running Powerpoint animation series ‘The Gunman’. Gaw, those were heady days.
I spent most of today (when Adobe finally got back to me about the student version thing with several completely useless links…) trying to create various simple animations such as a bouncing ball. I might try some Actionscript 3.0 at some point.

Other news. On Friday, I was most definitely ill, and not skiving off at my parents’ behest so we could take our boat from Calais finally back to England. Honest. So the rest of this section is a lie.
Having slept in on Friday morning (yipee), I had to get my stuff for the weekend ready real quick to avoid death at the hands of my mother. Then there were six hundred train journeys, thirty-two busses and a ferry to be taken in order to circumvent the fire in the Eurotunnel. My curse upon public transport strikes again.
The boat itself is now fine, complete with mast and rigging, and on Saturday morning (I stayed on the boat Friday evening and watched my Flash instructional video and ate Fray Bentos pie whilst my parents went out to dinner) we set off from Calais to Ramsgate. It was actually a pretty good crossing; I slept through most of it. The Ramsgate to Suffolk Yacht Harbour crossing was less nice, although I did steer at the end as we were going up the Orwell at seven knots: Sweet.
Yeah, so now the boat is happy and safe-ish.
Jolly good.

Oh, at the ferry port I bought two packets of Starburst for £4 ’cause there was an offer. I wish I hadn’t. Sweets NEED artificial flavourings and colours, people! Don’t be fools about this.

Max got me to download Portal: The First Slice. It crashed my computer. Repeatedly. Thesis –> My graphics card is whack, my computer sucks. (For gaming purposes other than Age of Empires 2, anyway…)

Yeah, listen to the IGN Nintendo Podcast to understand THAT title…
About ten and a half months ago, in the Early Days of this blog, I wrote an entry about how I was not happy about having my cousins around because to them I am effectively a neon sign saying ‘PUNCHING BAG’ in bubblegum pink letters. Today I relived that experience.
Los chicos luchan demasiado mucho…
So we all went to my grandparents’ house for lunch today, and present were various aunts and uncles, along with (in age order hi-lo) Felix, Alex, Anna and Isabella. After lots of attempting to fight against the tirade of thrown things and jumping-on-top-of-ness, I resigned myself to suffering, and sat in a corner feeling miserable. Then I realised that Felix and Alex were playing Need for Speed: Most wanted on their PSPs. Feeling a need to sneer at them for being little bastards, I booted up my laptop and zSNES and played F-Zero in their faces for no apparent reason, until they complained that it was crap (as they do with most ‘good’ games). They proceeded to crap upon Star Fox, LoZ: Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country 2, Chrono Trigger AND Chrono Cross, in the latter of which Felix valiantly attempted to prove that yes, he really is a complete and utter little turd by mashing buttons on my keyboard until he pressed the load state button at the wrong time and REALLY pissed me off. To prevent myself from murdering the little toerag, we went home.
As for other stuff, well… I’m not sure that I have anything non-nerdy to say. I downloaded the Chrono Symphonic, which was fairly awesome, but overused some themes (Magus. Magus? Magus.) And underused others (a whole 3 seconds of Wings that Cross Time). It was pretty good overall, though. And I’m not going to even explain what Chrono Symphonic is, ’cause nobody will care.

Mega Man 7 – Played briefly, insanely hard. Stupidly hard.

Right, ’nuff nerdiness. Well, game-wise, anyway.
I’ve been trying to read, on and off, the first third or so of Midnight Sun (the Edward version of Twilight) on StephenieMeyer.com. It’s kinda nice, and it helps to understand some things, but it feels a bit hollow. I dunno, I think Bella is just easier to relate to.

I must now do German for Satan/Mr Heath, and describe exactly why I hate my cousins in perfect German. Then I must do some DT. I wish that I could submit my blog as coursework…

Most Bestest Thing Ever. Things, in fact.
So I was surfing IGN yesterday and was reading about the upcoming MMO ‘Lego Universe’ (SWEET!, http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/906/906965p1.html) when I noticed that they seemed to have cited that ‘Lego’ could be translated into Latin as ‘I create’. Noting the grievous error, I noted my thoughts in the comments section, saying that perhaps ‘Lego’ could roughly be ‘I collect’ or ‘gather,’ like knowledge (says so in my dictionary).
Then the IGN man came back to me!
He said:
“You’re right, I’ve just checked and Lego translates as ‘I assemble’, so ‘I create’ is a very loose translation – that A in Latin has served you well.” Posted by: Martin-IGN
That I can throw Latin knowledge at people is great, but that people actually pay attention? Education is truly a gift.

Other Bestest Thing Ever.
I finally finished Breaking Dawn. It was so awesome.
I have decided that the Twilight Saga isn’t Teenage Vampire Romance, as I first thought. It is now in the genre of awesome. So that means that anyone can read it…
Anyway, brilliant, brilliant writing. I once read ‘Searingly well written’ on the back of a Harry Potter. I thought that was a silly phrase until I read this book, which it truly applies to. The story is fantastic, the characterisation is perfect (although I don’t seem to be in love with Bella, Edward OR Jacob, fortunately), and it all hangs together so… Well.
I need more strenuous adjectives to describe this… thing.

In terms of other stuff, all teachers seem hellbent on showing us just how doomed we are before our exams by smashing any vague ideas of hope out of our spines, but fortunately most people seem to have survived the summer holidays without my sense of humour. Oh, I was ill yesterday, sore throat and blocked nose. I feel better now, but my nose is still fairly crappy.
Next I kinda want to read Brisingr, by Christopher Paolini, but it’s only out in hardback right now, and it’s not a series awesome enough that I can be bothered spend £12.99 on a book (Breaking Dawn was TOTALLY worth it). Plus I probably need to re-read the others. Problem solved.

Tomorrow, anyway.

So today I went into Norwich to get some new school shoes. Ugh. That was Not a Nice Experience. For starters no shoes really seemed to fit properly, then there were no styles that I actually liked, then my mum got really impatient and so I ended up getting the scariest looking pair of shoes that I could see, just to make her shot op.
They have metal taggy bits on.
Then I had visit my mother’s workplace for about an hour, and sit in her office where everyone talks about intranets and servers and proxys and HTML and global oojamaflip. Max would have adored it. Then I found out that apparently I CAN’T get MarioKart Wii for Doing well in Latin, I have to get something else instead. So I am now getting Adobe Flash CS3 Professional (Student License) so I can really nerd it up. It doesn’t matter that it costs £98 rather than £35 for MKW, as long as it isn’t a computer game. Mind you, the private normal Flash license does cost £400…
Also, I saw a Dreamcast for £10 with accessories totalling about another £10. I was tempted, but I have no money… Then I could play SHENMUE.

School tomorrow may be fun. Who can tell…

Last, but by no means least (most important, really) A humungous and great and fantastic and stupendous Happy Birthday to Emily Theulings, who I am pretty sure is 16 today. There is probably a party that I wasn’t invited to.

Oh, and before I forget, I got a letter from Miss Sarah-Jane(?) Page about Super-Spanish lessons outside of school. I hope some other people are getting involved…

Yeah, now I don’t get to gloat. But an A in Latin is nothing to be ashamed of, either. I just hope to God that it wasn’t marginal. Otherwise I might actually consider a retake. I said that I was losing my mind…

Also…
the whole boating canal trip thing. It was long, and had lots of interesting bits I can’t be bothered to explain in detail. It was hard work. Our boat is now in Calais (I travelled home via EuroStar) and needs to have its mast put back up. I may go back to Calais in a few weeks to finally help sail back to England.

Well, I’m gonna talk about video games for a bit.
In Froncles (best place ever) I bought a cheap imitation PS1 controller for a USB port from a car boot sale. I then used it to play Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. That was awesome. Save states saved my ass.
Then I longed to play a PS1 game I had never got to emulate properly, but after a little effort and fiddling with graphics plugins I finally got…

Oh yeah. Awesome. Get this.

Okay, so I’m living happily in a rural village, then I go off to a beach to do some stuff and get sucked into another reality. In this reality, I drowned ten years ago, and then I have to save a girl I barely know by travelling back into my world through this crack in reality, then I have to find the Frozen flame before my arch nemesis, but then the Dragon’s Tear puts me into my nemesis’ body, or possibly not, perhaps I actually was my arch nemesis all along, perhaps my nemesis was always Serge. Then I have to break out of some weird pastel-drawn universe and get back to my world and travel to the Dead Sea, where the futuristic world of Chrono Trigger is preserved as a future that can no longer be because I destroyed it. And Chrono AND Marle AND Lucca (as ghostly children) shout at me about it. And then there is an awesome cutscene where the Dead Sea explodes, along with that future, as Fate makes its decision. And now I have to find all of the Six Dragons and get their help. Oh, and one more thing.
I AM THE CHRONO TRIGGER!
Sweet? Yes. Awesome? Definitely. Like crack cocaine to anyone who has played Chrono Trigger as much as me? Oh yeah.

Oh, and first thing I did when I went into St. Pancras Int. railway station was buy Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. Also very awesome.

Oh, and I went to the house of Elliot de Bondt today. He hasn’t changed much. Oh, and I finally played Portal.
